Environmental Benefits
The process decontaminates biosolids and soil mediums. It addresses and resolves long term environmental issues caused by seepage of poisons, pathogens and heavy metals through soil profiles and the associated consequent risks of dangerous materials to site users. Environmental health risks associated with plant and crop uptake are eliminated and therefore result in soil mediums that provide safe and risk free environmentally friendly materials for agricultural and horticultural purposes.
The AOR (Heller Process) provides a comprehensive long term solution that effectively extracts, reduces or eliminates heavy metals that are bio- available and that are known to have a detrimental environmental impact.
The Environmental Protection Agency Victoria has provided support for AOR as it commences to commercialise its technology to provide a sustainable solution to an environmental problem.
Unlike conventional management of biosolids by incineration, the Heller process involves no incineration or CO2 emissions other than operational emissions that result from off site commercially sourced production of electricity to run machinery. The waste stream of extracted contaminants is further treated to eliminate any environmental risk and becomes a recoverable by product. The process does not emit CO2 like incineration. |
